about us

Utopia Art Sydney is committed to the representation of a small group of Australian artists. These include leading members of Papunya Tula Artists, Gloria Petyarre from Utopia and non Indigenous artists from Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. Our reputation as one of the leading Indigenous art galleries owes much to the fact that all our artists are represented equally.

Since 1988, we have exhibited Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists in a contemporary context. This has led to the emergence of Aboriginal artists like Emily Kame Kngwarreye into the mainstream of Australian art. It has also served to expand the references for many of our artists.

We acknowledge and pay respect to the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, their Elders and country. We also acknowledge their continuing culture and their contribution to the life of our community.
